What is Mahjong?
A tile based game of skill, strategy, and luck where players discard tiles to form winning combinations of sets and runs. The game originated in China and came to the US in the early 1920's. The word Mahjong means Sparrow, which refers to the chattering sound the tiles make when shuffled. The National Mah Jongg League standardized version was introduced in 1937. A new Mah Jongg card comes out every year around April 1st.
